Viana se fundó en el año 1953, con una sola tienda. La razón social de la empresa fue Viana y Compañía, y los productos que vendía eran estufas, refrigeradores y lavadoras, en su mayoría a crédito. Paulatinamente se fueron agregando productos como televisores, equipos modulares, planchas, licuadoras, y finalmente en el año de 1962 se incorporaron a la venta la Línea Muebles para completar la gama de productos que hoy ofrecemos a nuestros clientes. En ese mismo año de 1962, Viana implanta en México el Sistema de Ventas al Contado con fuertes descuentos en artículos para el hogar, usando el lema publicitario: "Mas mercancía, a mas gente, al mas bajo precio". Como existía una gran diferencia entre el precio Viana y el precio de la competencia, se creó de inmediato un mercado de clientes de contado y Viana triplicó instantáneamente su volumen de ventas. Desde sus inicios Viana se caracterizo por ser una tienda de descuento adquiriendo este compromiso: "Vender al precio mas bajo garantizado" Compromiso que actualmente respaldamos con una póliza escrita aprobada por la Secretaría de Comercio y Fomento Industrial (Secofi) desde 1984; donde fundamentalmente Viana ofrece que todo lo que venda, tendrá siempre el precio mas bajo del mercado y en caso contrario le reembolsa al consumidor la diferencia, mas un porcentaje adicional. Viana es una empresa 100% mexicana de lo cual nos sentimos sumamente orgullosos, y seguiremos esforzándonos por seguir ofreciendo el precio más bajo del mercado y así beneficiar a más familias mexicanas.
