No one wants to drive if they are a danger to themselves or others on the road.An objective science based test can help determine if someone has become medically unfit to drive.NZTA approved provider, Auckland Medical Driving Assessments are provided by Anne Molloy Occupational Therapy Consultancy (AMOTC). You will be welcomed into a relaxed environment with no parking problems!Geographical coverage This service is available to clients throughout the Greater Auckland region including all Auckland suburbs.All clients from any part of NZ are most welcome to make use of the only evidence based medical and cognitive driving assessment available.Driving is a highly valued privilege in our modern society. It represents not only a mode of transportation, but also has strong links to our independence. Research now shows that it is not so much advancing age that affects whether or not someone remains competent to drive, but instead it is more related to the presence or absence of chronic medical conditions.Studies demonstrate that medical diagnosis & clinical judgement are poor & unreliable predictors for such an important matter. The most accurate way of determining whether or not someone is still safe to operate a vehicle is to have an objective, evidence based assessment.An objective scientific evidence based Medical & Cognitive Driving Assessment is provided to identify medically at-risk drivers.Safe drivers are not penalised.DriveABLE NZ.Part 1.The off-road assessment utilizes the DriveABLE Cognitive Assessment Tool (DCAT).NO PREVIOUS COMPUTER EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED TO PASS THE TEST.The DCAT is a computer based evaluation of the cognitive functions necessary for safe driving. The use of a simple, computerised presentation allows for a high degree of accuracy and objectivity in performance measures.Part 2.DriveABLE On Road Evaluation (DORE)The standardized road course and performance evaluation criteria were developed through extensive research and designed to reveal the significant driving problems of the medically compromised driver.* Driving performance is age normed against healthy competent drivers.
