Kamlesh Kumar Sankhala, MD, also known as Dr. Kumar, is an experienced medical oncologist serving patients out of NextGen Oncology in the Beverly Grove area of Los Angeles, California, located within the Beverly Hills Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. At NextGen Oncology, Dr. Kumar offers a personalized, humanized approach because he believes that cancer isn't just a physical disease, but an emotional one as well. His deep understanding of the patient experience drives his dedication and focus on providing comprehensive care to all his patients.
Dr. Kumar completed his medical education at the University of Rajasthan in Jaipur, India, along with a residency in internal medicine. He then pursued a fellowship in hematology and oncology at the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre, before completing two additional fellowships in medical oncology and advanced oncology drug development at the University of Texas Health Center. Dr. Kumar has demonstrated experience in academia and clinical research, along with a depth of knowledge about all subtypes of sarcomas, rare cancers, and all other advanced malignancies that have made him the “go-to person” among his colleagues.
With his extensive training, Dr. Kumar is uniquely equipped as a next-generation oncologist, giving his patients access to new treatments and clinical trials that boast the most cutting-edge and modern advancements in oncology medicine today. He is also on the advisory board for many pharmaceutical companies for oncology drug development and clinical trials.
Dr. Kumar has affiliations with various esteemed health facilities across Los Angeles, including Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Providence Saint John's Health Center. He is the Director of Sarcoma Oncology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and the Director of Clinical Research at Cedars-Sinai's Tower Hematology-Oncology. Dr. Kumar is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, Connective Tissue Oncology Society, Sarcoma Alliance and Research Collaboration, and the American Association of Clinical Research.
