There is no reason why we need to stop building with insulated concrete forms (ICF) during the winter. The concrete in the forms require very little if any heating to cure during freezing conditions which makes building with ICF a better option than traditional concrete wall construction.
Sometimes we work directly with our Insulated concrete form manufacturer Fox Blocks, to help them test new products and technologies. Here at one of our sites we are testing new ties that hold the insulation blocks together on some corner blocks. We filled them right up with concrete and vibrated the concrete to the extreme to force them to fail. This is not something we would do on every build but it gives us a good idea how strong the ICF blocks are that we use.

Prior to building a new home we will sometimes do a soil suitability test to determine the best foundation for the building based on actual soil conditions down to 40-50 feet below grade.

Did you know that Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) walls and foundation provide safe shelter from severe storms. Provinces with no past history of tornadoes are now experiencing them. As a result of the recent number of tornadoes in their areas, insurance claims due to a majority of severe storm events have been doubling every five years. Protect your investment, protect your family, and protect yourself. Build with Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF).
