La Cooperativa Produttori Latte e Fontina nasce nel 1957 con l'obiettivo di raccogliere, maturare e commercializzare il prodotto agricolo per eccellenza della Valle d'Aosta: la fontina DOP. Sono stati 46 i soci fondatori della cooperativa e, oggi, se ne contano circa 300 tra aziende private, caseifici cooperativi e latterie turnarie. Le forme conferite nel 1958, primo anno di attività, erano meno di 40.000; oggi sono circa 350.000.
