Anamata is a Tuhoe mandated tertiary institute, committed to providing quality educational training, which will grow leaders in its community. Specialist programmes promote and set standards of excellence in te reo Maori me ona tikanga Tuhoe. Established in 1995 by its governing body Anamata Charitable Trust, Anamata was developed to improve the educational achievement and aspirations of Maori in the Bay of Plenty, in particular Tuhoe Maori.Students come to Anamata because of the whanaungatanga they experience in the learning environment, and for the quality of the education they gain. Anamata was recently ranked ninth out of 23 other tertiary institutes for the quality of their research. Anamata has specialist experts on the academic staff, such as Dr Patu Hohepa who teaches on the Bachelor of Te Reo Maori, the only degree of its kind in Aotearoa.Programmes offered by Anamata include: Bachelor of Te Reo Maori, Diploma of Social Work-Iwi Maori Social Services (Level 6), National Diploma in Counselling (Level 7), Te Matanui: Undergraduate Diploma (Level 5), National Certificate of Youth Work (Level 4), National Certificate in Reo Maori (Level 4), National Certificate in Social Service Work in Suicide Intervention (Level 4) (Level 6), National Certificate in Social Service Work with Abuse, Neglect and Violence (Level 4), National Certificates in Business Administration (Level 4) and Computing (Level 3), National Certificate in Support of the Older Person (Level 3), Bridging Certificate in Tertiary Studies (Level 3) & Workplace Training.We offer a range of courses which have all been through a rigorous accreditation process.
