Dr Andrew Macleod has been practising in Westville for 15 years. Our aim is to provide a superior service to our clients from the moment telephonic contact is made until the client leaves. We strive to provide a holistic approach looking at both the physical and psychosocial factors. Over the years we have noticed a swing towards preventitive health care. In this respect, patients are encouraged to book in for "personal medicals". This involves addressing areas of concern and routine issues involving all the organ systems. Following this is a physical check up and bloods are taken as appropriate. Then Special investigations such as stress ECG and lung function tests are done at the surgery. At follow up, any deviations are addressed and referred as appropriate. Dr Macleod has an interest in research medicine and at any time, clinical trials are undertaken. These are primarily phase IV trials involving drugs that have already been released. Candidates for research are gathered from the practice population. The primary area of interest is allergy and asthma. Dr Macleod`s special area of interest is that of asthma and allergic rhinitis. The KZN coast with its high relative humidity has high levels of house dust mite, the common causitive agent in asthma. The practise sees patients from a wide area with these ailments.
