In 1981, Dr. Calcatera graduated summa cum laude from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his podiatric surgical residency in Chicago at Franklin Community Hospital. Immediately after his surgical residency, he practiced in Burlington, Vermont for a period of six years. Dr. Calcatera relocated to Birmingham, Alabama in 1984. Dr. Calcatera is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is currently the Chief of Podiatry at Brookwood Medical Center.
