I'm Laura Abels. I have lived in the central Iowa area since I started medical school in 2008. I'm originally from Fort Wayne, IN but I have lived all around the Midwest. I went to undergraduate at Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Spanish and minors in business and pre-medical sciences. I did a post-baccalaureate program in Philadelphia, PA at Drexel University College of Sciences to improve my science background before medical school. I graduated from Des Moines University in 2008 and did my residency locally at Mercy Medical Center in Family Medicine. I have a special interest in preventive care and mental health.
