Dr. Alef is a vascular surgeon at the University of Vermont Medical Center and an assistant professor at the Larner College of Medicine at UVM in Burlington, VT. Dr. Alef also serves as the Director of the David Pilcher Vascular Lab.

Dr. Matthew Alef joined the vascular surgery team at The University of Vermont Medical Center in August of 2014, after the completion of his training in vascular surgery at the Beth Israel-Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA.

His area of expertise includes multi-modal limb salvage utilizing angioplasty, stent and bypass techniques, treatment of carotid disease via minimally invasive stenting, percutaneous aorta aneurysm repair and complex aneurysm repair with a Fenestrated technique.

He has an interest in ice climbing and endurance events and is fully engaged in the fitness community.
