Story Scouts is a passion-based reading program for kids. Our goal is to increase literacy by making reading fun! We approach books and reading with curiosity and joy. We aim to get books into kids' hands and provide a relaxed, safe enviornment where they can explore and discuss books, while still being guided by a scholastic structure. Classes are held at Wildflower School in Chapel Hill.
Over six week sessions, we will read four books, discuss their content, go over reading lessons in topics such as phonics and fluency, have independent reading time, and do activities based around the book.
Story Scouts is perfect for any child, whether they're already passionate about reading or need a bit of encouragement. We offer two different classes at two different levels. Our Grades 2 & 3 group is for kids from ages 6-8, and the Grades 4 & 5 group is for kids ages 8-11.
