Carlos Concepcion is founder and principal of Studio Concepcion Architects, LLC, an international architecture, planning and design practice, fully committed to the design and construction of sustainable, environmentally conscience spaces/structures. Concepcion received his Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree from the University of Florida and Masters of Architecture degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. Following his academic work, Concepcion joined the internationally renowned firm of Richard Meier and Partner, New York, where he worked on a number of award winning projects in the US and abroad. In 1992, Concepcion won the Arts International/IIE Prize in Architecture, taking him to Europe on a yearlong fellowship, leading to a number of private commissions and subsequently private practice. For the past 20 years Concepcion has combined professional practice with teaching at a number prestigious academic institutions including Parson's School of Design, New York, and The University of Illinois at Chicago, where he has offered courses in architecture design, planning, building sciences, fabrication and representation at graduate and undergraduate levels. Concepcion's works and projects have been widely published and exhibited nationally and internationally. His firm is a member of both The American Institute of Architects and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
