Cynthia Jun, O.D., F.A.A.O., is an optometrist and clinical instructor at the Wilmer Eye Institute’s Columbia, Maryland location. Dr. Jun provides comprehensive eye care for patients with glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetes, as well as urgent care for injuries or acute conditions. She has research and clinical interests in glaucoma and is investigating timing for clustering OCTs to better detect progression and alternative visual field devices that enhance patient comfort and reliability. Additionally, Dr. Jun is co-leading efforts to develop comprehensive and subspecialty patient-care models to optimize efficiencies and increase access at Wilmer.
After completing an undergraduate degree at the University of California, Los Angeles, Dr. Jun earned her Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of California, Berkeley. She then completed a residency in ocular disease at the Baltimore VA Medical Center in conjunction with the Wilmer Eye Institute. Following the residency, she gained extensive clinical experience in a private ophthalmology practice, where she also presented continuing education lectures and volunteered services for residents in need.
