I went into medicine for two reasons. I've liked helping people since I was a teenager, and my parents encouraged me because they thought I'd be a good physician. I agreed with them, and that's what inspired me to go to medical school and eventually practice medicine. I chose oncology as a specialty for a very personal reason. When I was a medical resident, my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer and that was my motivation, to become an oncologist to help her. She unfortunately passed away later on. But that's how I got into oncology. This community is very quiet and peaceful. It's a simple life, but it's close to big metropolitan areas, so you can always get to a bigger city if you need to. I'm committed to the people of this community. I want to advocate for them. I want my patients to know that I'll advocate for them, I'll be supportive of them as long as they need it, and I'll never give up on them as long as they're willing to accept my support.
