Alejandra Suzuki, MD, FAPA, is board-certified in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry. She is also a TMS specialist and is proud to serve patients at Orange County Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Irvine, California.
Dr. Suzuki comes from Japanese background but was born and raised in Argentina. She speaks fluent English, Spanish, Japanese, and French, giving her invaluable insight and empathy for patients of different ethnicities.
Dr. Suzuki earned her medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina and completed her residency in ophthalmology, where she discovered a particular interest in neuro-ophthalmology. Dr. Suzuki attended the University of Miami to research neuro-otology but ultimately decided to pursue a psychiatry residency at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
Afterward, Dr. Suzuki completed her fellowship in child psychiatry at the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA). She also received training in transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) from Harvard Medical School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Dr. Suzuki is one of the first psychiatrists in the United States who specializes in using TMS.
Dr. Suzuki’s special interest is in the mind and brain development of children. During her fellowship, she researched autism at the Brain Research Institute at UCLA. A fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, Dr. Suzuki is also a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Clinical TMS Society.
At Orange County Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Dr. Suzuki offers a wide range of treatments for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and medication management. Dr. Suzuki takes a prevention approach wherever possible so that her patients receive treatment early and have a quicker recovery with fewer adverse effects. She strongly believes in collaborating with other health care providers to integrate behavioral and physical health.
