David brings a unique perspective to the law and a passion for bettering the lives of others. For the last 16 years, he has owned and operated a small, community-based group home for individuals with autism. As a caregiver, David discovered that he had an enthusiasm and a gift for advocacy – that desire to fight for the best interests of others led him to the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law, where he served as President of the Elder Law Society. David is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the Boulder County Bar Association, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
What is Elder Law?
It takes strength, courage, and resilience to become an Elder. Day by day, brick by brick, handshake by handshake, and embrace by embrace, the Elder has built a life and established a legacy.
Every Elder deserves to have his or her quality of life and assets protected and sustained to the greatest extent possible according to the Elder’s wishes and values. These goals are at the heart of Elder Law.
Elder Law covers many different areas of the law that are important to Elders and their families. These areas include Medicaid and Medicare Planning , Guardianships and Conservatorships. Some areas of Elder Law are relevant to people of all ages, such as Estate and Disability Planning, Special Needs Planning and Trusts, and Probate Administration.
