About

Alexandra “Allie” Beam, MS, CCC-SLP serves as an Associate in Clinical Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at Columbia University Medical Center. They are a Speech-Language Pathologist and Voice and Swallowing Specialist at the Voice and Swallowing Center. Their clinical and research interests include head and neck cancer, dysphagia in neurologic populations, vocal fold atrophy, and gender-diverse voice and communication.
Allie earned a master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Teachers College, Columbia University. During their graduate training, they served as a research assistant in the Laboratory for the Study of Upper Airway Disorders at Columbia University and the Aerodigestive Innovations Research Lab at Weill Cornell Medicine. They also completed clinical internships at the Manhattan VA and the Sean Parker Institute for the Voice. Allie was fellowship trained in voice, swallowing, and upper airway disorders within the Johns Hopkins University Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, where they developed a passion for working with patients undergoing treatment for head and neck cancer.
Allie is deeply committed to advancing clinical practice in voice and dysphagia through high-quality patient care and meaningful research. They actively participate in clinical research initiatives and regularly present at national conferences. In addition, they provide mentorship to graduate students and clinical fellows, with the goal of training the next generation of clinicians to deliver compassionate, evidence-based voice and swallowing care.
