The Licking County Historic Jail is a historic building located in Newark, OH. It is maintained by the Licking County Governmental Preservation society, which works to restore and upkeep the building and promote its history. The Jail is a premier tourist attraction in Newark, as it is known nationally as a source of spirit & ghost sighting, paranormal events and unexplained phenomenon. The Jail has embraced this, and once a year turns into a literally haunted house for the month of October as the Jail of Terror. Aside form this, there are ghost tours and other events promoting the jail and its history.
