BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: Introducing the Just a Few Miles South Culinary Tour! Join us for an immersive journey into the world of Chef Ouita Michel, an award-winning, James Beard-nominated chef and restaurateur, renowned as a lifelong standard bearer for Kentucky food and farmers.
The Just a Few Miles South Culinary Tour will be an afternoon filled with fascinating storytelling and unforgettable farm-to-table cuisine as we cruise through beautiful horse country in the quintessential Bluegrass community of Versailles, epicenter of the thoroughbred world.
Fortify yourself with a country ham biscuit and crispy cheese wafer (or two!) in the Holly Hill Cooking Studio while Chef Ouita guides you through her signature bourbon flavor wheel.
Then, it's off to the Hundley family's storied @saxonyfarm , where you'll be treated to an insider's tour of its stunning event venues and rolling green pastures. Sip on a Seelbach cocktail and savor a taste of Ouita Michel’s Hoecake Nation, bite-sized corn cakes topped with Kentucky caviar, Bluegrass Benedictine, and pimiento cheese.
Pace yourself, though, because just down the road from Saxony Farm, Holly Hill Inn has laid out a Bluegrass Spread of delectable dishes prepared with ingredients from local farms and @hollyhillinn gardens. Crisp and tender fried chicken, thin-sliced aged country ham, housemade pickles, corn sticks and spoonbread, dressed eggs, autumn salad with sorghum vinaigrette, heirloom vegetables--all edible proof of Kentucky's unrivaled food culture and served up to the tunes of live Bluegrass music. Settle in and stay awhile.
Your day ends where it started, back in charming downtown Versailles at the @woodfordhotel . Sink into a sumptuous leather sofa and linger over a dish of chocolate bread pudding with bourbon butter sauce until it's time to return home. As we bid you a fond farewell, remember Chef Ouita's parting words--Food is love.
