Hooten has performed for numerous presidents, including Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. While performing at the White House for President Bush, Hooten proposed to his then-girlfriend, Whitney, in the China Room. She accepted an Oval Diamond engagement ring to coincide with the Oval Office. Whitney and David were married and now have three beautiful children, Henry David, Ava Elizabeth, and David Benjamin Hooten Jr. Hooten is currently the official trumpeter for the "Palmer Cup" and performs throughout the world for the worldwide college golf event. Hooten also composed "Fanfare for an Amateur Athlete," which is the Palmer Cup Theme and has been aired on the Golf Channel internationally.
