The Rapid City South Dakota Temple was announced on 6 April 2025, by President Russell M. Nelson as the first temple in the state. The temple is currently in the planning and approval phase. A groundbreaking date has not yet been announced. Plans call for an 11,800 square foot, single-story building with an accompanying ancillary building.
