About

"Laurie will provide you with warmth and understanding as you journey into parenthood, as well as, a calm presence and peace of mind. She is happy to share her love of postpartum care with you to help build your confidence. It can sometimes be a little overwhelming and is nice to have someone normalize what is happening. She has enhanced her knowledge by taking many trainings for infant sleep, breastfeeding, race inequities, and postpartum mood disorders, to name just a few. Plus, learned many tools from parents of the over 100 families she as served. Laurie can show you ways to soothe your newborn, help with sleep patterns, support the feeding of your choice, and provide you time for some much needed rest, and much more. She can lend a listening ear in her non-judgmental manner to help you sort through your concerns and provide resources when needed. Also, if there is a need to travel with your newborn whether it be for work, or vacation, she is happy to come along and help support you during your travels. Laurie became a postpartum doula in 2006 and was trained at the school of Seattle Midwifery. Which is now known as the Simkin Center at Bastyr University. Laurie trained as a birth and postpartum doula. She certified with DONA International as a birth and postpartum doula, as well as, with the local doula organizations PALS Doulas and NAPS Doulas. She is currently only certified with NAPS Doulas as her focus is postpartum work. She previously served on the board of directors of NAPS Doulas, as the Co-Director and mentorship lead. She is passionate about mentoring new doulas. She also has volunteered as a birth doula at UWMC. When not enjoying time with her postpartum families she loves spending time with her two beautiful granddaughters, time with family and friends, crafts, cross stitch, and travel. Many families ask…Why did you become a doula? It warms my heart to spend time with families. To see their confidence grow and of course have a little snuggle time with your sweet baby. I hope I have the opportunity to serve your family."
