About

Since 1934, the Nalder Funeral Home has operated to serve the families of the Shelley and Firth area. Our goal is to provide the compassionate, affordable and quality service in your time of need. Our services range from the traditional funeral service to memorial services to cremation, according to the wishes of the family. We take pride in our ability to adapt the arrangements to meet your special goals for personalizing the celebration the life of your loved one.Traditional funeral services Many families choose to say their last goodbyes through a traditional funeral service. Family and friends view the embalmed body in a peaceful state, making it easier to say goodbye and gain closure. Visitation is a time when family and friends are invited to view the deceased and pay their last respects. Private time is reserved for family before the public visitation. Floral arrangements, photographs, and personal items are used to spark memories and to pay honor to the life lived. Generally, visitations last for two to six hours the day before the funeral. Visitation often continues up to the time of the service the day of the funeral. The traditional funeral service is held in our funeral home, or in a church or special place chosen by the family. Funerals often consist of scripture readings, prayers, a eulogy, sometimes a sermon and music. The traditional funeral precedes the final interment of the body at the cemetery. Following a vehicle procession to the cemetery, the body is placed to rest. The final placement of the body in an earthen grave is called Interment. Pall bearers transfer the casket from the funeral coach to the gravesite. Family and friends are led in remarks or prayers before final goodbyes are made.CremationCremation is an alternative with a variety of choices. Families considering Cremation may opt for a Traditional Funeral Service followed by Cremation. This serves people who need the closure associated with a traditional visitation and funeral service, and wish to use cremation as a part of their final tribute. The body of the deceased is prepared and placed in a solid oak service casket. As with all visitations, private time is reserved for the family before the public visitation. Floral arrangements, photographs, and personal items are used to honor to the life lived. The final resting place of your loved one is either burial, placement or scattering.Graveside or memorial serviceWhen the family wishes to avoid the formality of the traditional funeral service, they may opt for alternative forms of honoring their loved one. Private or abbreviated visitations are possible, often followed directly by a graveside service. In cases where direct Cremation is chosen, a Memorial Service may be scheduled days or weeks later, permitting those who must travel to be present. There are any number of ways to arrange a ceremony, and Nalder Funeral Home will work with you to accomplish what works best for you.
