About Harrison Walter
For Harrison Walter, the decision to have a career in medicine happened at a young age. He helped his grandmother battle cancer and, while in nursing school, helped his father after open-heart surgery.
“As a nurse practitioner, I treat the mind, soul and physical body to the best of my ability to improve my patients’ quality of life,” he says.
He picked trauma as his specialty, because he wanted to help people during their urgent, unexpected needs. Harrison follows patients through recovery and discharge.
Harrison earned a degree as an Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner, MSN, from Spring Arbor University in Michigan. A self-proclaimed lifelong learner, he has gained knowledge from his various jobs through the years as an outpatient dialysis RN, cardiac cath lab RN, cardiac step-down unit (PCU) RN and cardiology APRN, at facilities in Indiana and Florida.
His philosophy as a provider is to demonstrate honesty, dedication and compassion.
“My patients have taught me to treat them the way in which I would want to be treated,” he says, adding, “because at any given moment, I could be in their shoes.”
