Olivia Ryan decided in high school that she wanted a future in medicine. "I just knew that I wanted to help others," she says. "My father is a paramedic, and that also sparked my interest in the field." She chose to work in Trauma and Surgical Services because it enables her to be there for patients at a time when they need help the most – when they first come to Beacon following a traumatic event and throughout their hospital stay.
Olivia’s philosophy of care is simple, yet powerful. "I always listen to my patients," she explains. "They know themselves best." She takes a holistic approach to care, tailored to each person’s specific needs. "I want my patients to know that I will always treat them with compassion – as though they were my own family member."

Who is or was the most influential person/role model in your life? My mother. She has always put herself before others.
What was your first job growing up? What do you remember most about it? I worked in the gift shop of a zoo. It was always fun to be able to walk the zoo after hours.
In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about? What are your hobbies, interests? I love traveling and planning trips.
Do you have pets? Yes, I have a goldendoodle named Millie.
What is something most people don’t know about you? I can play the flute.
