Ignacio Rua, M.D., FACS, FSVS, is a board-certified general and vascular surgeon at Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute. His clinical training includes a hepatobiliary fellowship at Hospital 12 de Octubre in Madrid, Spain, where he gained specialty training in hepatic resection and liver transplantation surgery. He also completed an endovascular fellowship at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. His patient-centered approach ensures that diagnostic tests are properly utilized to make informed decisions about a patient’s diagnosis and treatment. When determining the best treatment option, Dr. Rua minimizes invasive procedures and prioritizes nonsurgical options like medication, physical therapy and lifestyle modifications before considering surgery.
