The Charlotte North Carolina Temple was announced in April 2023 by Pres. Russell M. Nelson as the second temple in the state. This site was announced shortly thereafter in May 2023. The temple is currently in the planning and approval phase. A groundbreaking date has not yet been announced. Plans call for a single-story design covering approximately 30,000 square feet.
