L’histoire des Meubles Marchand débute en 1968, à Matagami, grâce à Marcel et Jean-Guy Marchand qui firent construire un bâtiment destiné à combler la demande en meubles, en électroménagers et en produits électroniques. En 1980, ils acquièrent l’entreprise Meubles Val-d’Or, puis une clientèle sans cesse grandissante pousse la croissance de Meubles Marchand qui, en 1989, fit construire un nouvel édifice entièrement adapté, pour ensuite l’agrandir en 2004. En 1999, Meubles Amos devient la propriété de l’entreprise pour devenir le magasin actuel à Villemontel et, en 2013, est construit un nouveau magasin à Rouyn-Noranda, dans le secteur d’Évain. Actuellement, la famille Marchand est également copropriétaire du Groupe Opex avec lequel elle exploite trois Meubles Ashley Homestore/Meubles Marchand, dans la région métropolitaine de Montréal (Laval, Saint-Jérôme et Saint-Hubert). Les Meubles Marchand détiennent une place de chef de file dans le marché, attribuée notamment à leur désir constant d’offrir les meilleurs produits et services ainsi qu’à leur souci d’offrir la meilleure expérience d’achat à leur clientèle.
