More information about Rerooting the Future

Rerooting the Future Workshops are particularly suitable for corporate team building activities, or as workshops for GIY or community groups and Transition Year classes. The foraging walks are a great way to learn about the wild or weedy edible plants that are around us. The workshops are ideal if your group wants to spend around four hours learning some fun, practical life enhancing skills. The Pilates classes offered here are perfect for private groups and companies looking to help their employees or participants get more exercise and improve well being. Great for corporate, nursing homes/ active aging groups and schools, especially suitable for leaving cert students who will benefit from regular Pilates and relaxation classes.
Hi, my name is Zaneta Wright, I own and run Rerooting the Future and teach most of the workshops and classes offered here. I am passionate about nature, health, sustainability and community. I enjoy leading foraging walks, and sharing the non-toxic, low waste and wallet friendly Home Economics skills that I have acquired over the years. Pilates became a part of my life after physio to deal with back pain, I love the way it has made my body stronger and more flexible. It is therefore a joy to teach these wonderful techniques to others and see how Pilates can change lives.
My qualifications include an honours degree in Biology from Maynooth University, where I mainly took human immunity and plant biology modules; a Post Grad course in Environmental Sustainability; a Permaculture Design Certificate and I graduated from the National Training Centre in 2016 with an Advanced Diploma in Pilates Matwork.
A friend and I designed a food forest for a site at Sonairte in Laytown and we are in the process of planting that up. My husband and I designed and renovated his parents’ garden in Skerries into a lush, food growing slice of paradise. We have an allotment that we harvest food from year round.
My voluntary work includes working as a gardener Sonairte Eco -Centre, where I learned a lot about nature, nature observation and growing food; I also spent time at the Rediscovery Centre in Ballymun where I helped with documentation and workshops.
I am interested in finding ways to create sustainable, resilient communities. I am involved with Sustainable Skerries, a local community group that administers an organic veg box scheme (CSA); works with the county council to set up a community garden and provides workshops and courses surrounding sustainable living.
I blog about a diverse range of topics, from harvesting and preparing foraged plants, my kitchen experiments and recipes for homemade laundry liquid. rerootingthefuture.ie/blog
In my down time, I can often be found at home, usually knitting, sewing or experimenting with natural dye stuffs, or messing about at the allotment.
