Founded in 2004, A Cut Above Academy went from a humble space at the rooftop of Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall to a 3-storey building in Dataran Mentari, Bandar Sunway today. Its remarkable growth and success came from none other than Datin Winnie Loo, founder and Chief Creative Director of A Cut Above Group of Salons and Academy. Thanks to her vision and commitment, we have taken the lead to become the Industry leader in Hairdressing Education.
Over the years, the Academy has been developing its hairdressing courses to ensure its utmost quality in education. A Cut Above Academy not only teaches the high standard that is expected from City & Guilds London, the Academy was also honoured as The Best Hairdressing Academy in Malaysia for 3 consecutive years.
Today, A Cut Above is honoured as the top Hairdressing Academy in Malaysia, accredited by the Malaysian Government's Department of Skills Development. Making us one of the few Hairdressing Schools in Malaysia that is licensed to accept students from all over the world.
As quality education is our priority, A Cut Above Academy practices group student intakes. Courses are available on specific months of the year and students start their courses in groups. This way, students will have each other as benchmarks for improvement, and our Educators can gauge their abilities.
Students start off their education with theory, before practicing on mannequin heads and progressing to live models at the main floor. This is A Cut Above Academy's forte: each student is individually assessed by the Educators, ensuring that they are capable before moving on to the next level. Students need to do a proper consultation and diagnosis with the client and then report to the Educator in charge before they begin their practice.
