Mijn interesse in de holistische benadering van de zieke mens, heeft in 2008 geresulteerd dat ik de opleiding tot klassiek acupuncturist ben gestart bij de Academie voor Chinese Geneeswijze Qing-Bai. In 2010 heb ik stage gelopen in het Haici (Traditional Chinese Medicine) Ziekenhuis van Qing Dao in China. (Qing Dao is bekend van de Olympische zeilwedstrijden in 2008 tijdens de Olympische Spelen van 2008).
In september 2010, tijdens mijn opleiding voor acupuncturist, heb ik een driedaagse workshop gevolgd van Virginia Doran, "Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture and Massage" in Amsterdam. Ook heb ik van een andere bekende acupuncturist op dit gebied, Mary Elizabeth Wakefield, workshops gevolgd in mei en september 2012 omtrent "Constitutional Facial Acupuncture Archetypes". Beide, Virginia Doran als Mary Elizabeth Wakefield zijn bekende acupuncturisten in o.a. New York en behandelen daar filmsterren die geen Botox willen gebruiken. Ook geen plastische chirurgie maar er gezonder en natuurlijker willen uitzien. In de Verenigde Staten wordt er tegen Botox en botuline-toxine gewaarschuwd vanwege de negatieve bijwerkingen.
Binnen de acupunctuur gaat mijn interesse ook uit naar de auriculo-therapie (oor-acupunctuur). Diverse workshops gevolgd in 2011 bij de Academie van Qing Bai. Deze therapie bestaat uit het plaatsen van naaldjes op en in het oor. De auriculo-therapie is met name succesvol bij (acute) pijnbestrijding, spier -en hoofdpijn, rug -en nekklachten en als ondersteuning van afvallen en stoppen met roken.
In 2012 heb ik mijn studie afgerond en ben in april 2012 gestart met mijn praktijk voor acupunctuur naast mijn werk van jarenlange ervaring als anaesthesie-assistente in het Vlietland Ziekenhuis te Schiedam.
