Wat wij doen als mondhygiënist is vastgelegd in een protocol voor behandelnoodzaak. Dat betekent dat iedere mondhygiënist op dezelfde wijze te werk gaat volgens een vaste procedure om precies de zorg te leveren die voor uw situatie nodig is.Als u op de eerste afspraak verschijnt zal de mondhygiënist een aanvullende medische vragenlijst (anamnese) met u doornemen. Dit hoort bij het zogenaamde intake-gesprek, waarin ook aan de orde komt waarvoor u verwezen bent of wat uw eigen wensen of vragen zijn. Het kan echter zijn dat er omstandigheden betreffende uw gezondheid zijn die het nodig maken een mondhygiënebehandeling tijdelijk op te schorten. Sommige mensen mogen niet zonder toestemming en/of pre-medicatie van hun behandelend arts door de mondhygiënist behandeld worden. Daarom vind u in het contactformulier elders op deze website enkele vragen vooraf over uw gezondheid. Mocht het nodig zijn, dan neemt de mondhygiënist eerst telefonisch contact met U op om nadere informatie in te winnen.
Vervolgens stelt de mondhygiënist de conditie van het tandvlees vast. Met behulp van een sonde wordt voorzichtig het tandvlees afgetast op zoek naar plekjes die mogelijk ontstoken zijn en gaan bloeden bij het aanraken. Als het tandvlees niet bloedt of er geen andere verschijnselen te bespeuren zijn van ziekte kan het gebit preventief professioneel worden gereinigd.
De mondhygiënist legt na het vaststellen van de conditie van het tandvlees aan u uit wat de behandeling inhoudt en stelt indien nodig een behandelplan op. De behandeling geschiedt in één of meerdere sessies van 45 of 60 minuten, afhankelijk van de hoeveelheid aanwezige tandsteen, plaque en/of aanslag. Het kan daardoor voorkomen dat een (laatste) sessie juist korter duurt dan 45 of 60 minuten. Alleen de tijd die aan u besteed is wordt berekend, in alle fasen van de behandeling, zowel preventief als curatief, als nazorg. U ontvangt een begroting als de geschatte kosten hoger zijn dan 150 Euro.
