Cookes are a large engineering company originally founded in 1862 under the name of William Cooke & Company in the U.K, then in 1911 an office was opened in Auckland to handle the distribution of wire rope and associated products in New Zealand.Cookes operate New Zealand’s only wire rope and strand manufacturing plant, and have 13 branches nationwide.Cookes are part of the Melrose group of companies which includes a number of the world’s leading lifting equipment manufacturers such as Parsons Chain Co. (UK) and Crosby International (USA).Our factory has Telarc ISO9001 Registered certification. It has also been approved as a manufacturer in accordance with the requirements of Lloyds Register, for Steel Wire Rope.Cookes are also New Zealand’s largest manufacturer and distributor of webbing lifting slings and load restraint equipment with plants in Auckland and ChristchurchCookes have a wide range of natural and synthetic fibre ropes and twines carried in stock.Cookes have a complete inventory of all lifting equipment i.e. alloy lifting chains, Grade 80 and Grade 100, shackles, alloy and steel stamped with SWL, manual and electric chain blocks and lever hoists, and wire rope winches.Cookes are the New Zealand and South Pacific agent for the Manuli brand of hydraulic hose and fittings. This premium product is made in Italy and recognised worldwide for quality. We also supply hydraulic hose crimping machinery and accessories.Cookes Wear Resistant Products division sells Esco Bucket Teeth and Adaptors, Ripper Points, Grader Shanks and Tips, End Bits, and Cutting Edges for all makes of loaders and bulldozers. This division of Cookes also has Crusher parts, Jaws, Mantles and Hammers. Wear resistant steels from Wearalloy U.S.A, and Duaplate, Duablock and Chokblok are for extreme wear in the mining and contracting industries.Cookes have Transmission and Conveyor Chain including HKK roller transmission chain and Gates V belts, agricultural machinery parts, linkage parts, etc.Cookes operate load testing facilities for proof loading and certification of all types of lifting equipment at branches throughout New Zealand and can offer on-site testing vehicles at centrally located sites nationwide.Cookes install the Brifen Safety Barrier fence and these are visible on many of our major motorways throughout New Zealand.It is with one of our associate companies, Gourock NZ Ltd that we also service the commercial fishing industry.
