What makes Aranui Rest Home & Hospital & Dementia Unit different? Aranui is privately-owned, Aranui Home and Hospital offers stage 2 resident care for 27 people in its rest home and long-term medical care for 29 residents in its hospital. It also has a young person's service for people under 65 and day stay for those who live elsewhere. We are also in the process of constructing a 23 bed dementia unit.Aranui is well-regarded by its residents and their families for, among other things, the quality of its care, its spaciousness, its high staff-to-resident ratio and the importance placed on residents remaining part of their local community. The latter is achieved through a comprehensive activity programme.Aranui boasts four well-appointed residents' lounges, a whanau room, a sunny conservatory, wheelchair ramps, a private outdoor courtyard and a chatterbox cockatiel called Elvis. Each bedroom has a washbasin, wardrobe and bed and residents are encouraged to furnish their room to their own taste.Residents are encouraged to get involved in the wide variety of intellectual, social and physical activities organised for Aranui residents. The home owns a mini-bus, which is frequently in use to take clients on excursions to places such as Waitakere ranges, Mission Bay, Western Springs, the airport and concerts or just down to the mall for morning tea and shopping.Aranui Home and Hospital is run by nurse manager Marlena Quinton who has had a great deal of experience working with the elderly.
