About

City of Ink was established in 2010 by award winning tattooist Steve Johnson and his partner Michelle Ross.

City of Ink is centrally located on Riccarton Road, near the intersection of Clarence Street and Straven Road. Our doors are open 7 days a week, Monday to Saturday 10am to 6pm, (late night Thursday until 9pm) and from 12pm to 6pm on Sunday.

City of Ink's journey started under the guidance and direction of the late Steve Johnson, creating a one stop shop for anything tattooing. There is now a very talented team of freestyle artists, all professionals who enjoy creating any idea into an original piece of art worn on the skin.

We proudly offer a clean sterile hygienic environment, health and safety being of upmost importance. Our equipment is of the highest quality, to ensure every tattoo is beautifully completed with our range of expertise in a range of styles including:

Realism Traditional Asian Art (Japanese) Script Neo Traditional (New School/Old School) Biomechanical Henna/Island Style Ornamental Traditional Ta Moko
We have 5 station's, 5 talented tattoo artists, and one hard working apprentice.

Our tattooists specialise in an area of expertise, but also possess an all round knowledge which is essential in an ever growing business.

Consultations with one of our tattooists are offered prior to commencing your body art.

We specialise in Black and Grey and/or Colour ensuring you get the piece you want in perfect style and colour.
