Matthew and Jane Ferguson live in Edendale, Southland with their three children.
Matthew works in the meat industry and has done so for the past 18+ years. He became involved with home kill simply as a hobby, but with demand growing for home killed meat products, he has now formed Fergs Home Kill Services Limited with his wife Jane.
With over 10 years experience in home kill, Fergs Home Kill can guarantee that your animals will be killed humanely and treated with dignity. With children of his own, Matthew understands that sometimes killing the "pet" lamb, sheep, calf or cattle beast is tough, and we can arrange times around you and your family.
Currently we are able to deliver your animals directly to the Edendale Butchery, where it will be labelled and placed in the chiller to be processed by the butcher to your individual needs. We can drop off at other butchers, but by prior arrangement only.
Home kill if done correctly, allows the animal to die, in its own, stress free environment. A stress free animal has been proven to lead to better meat quality. However, an animal in poor condition while alive, may not produce the same quality of meat as a healthier animal. Matthew will give his honest opinion if asked on the suitability of any animal for the house freezer.
