Once part of the ocean floor, each fragment comprising the stone is a tiny piece of ancient coral, crustacean and mollusc shell laid down in sedimentary layers when the entire area of Whangarei was a giant tropical lagoon 30 million years ago. As such, our schist has more of an oceanic look and feel as compared to other alpine style varieties commonly seen.It is the very distinct sedimentary lines that create the texture and finish which separates Paradise Stone from any commercially available quarried stone available in New Zealand or indeed anywhere else in the world.In selecting a stone for a quality development we believe it is important to consider how best to blend naturally with the surrounding environment and ensure that the finished product looks like it belongs there.
