Lloyd’s Switzerland works closely with a distribution network of, currently, over 80 Lloyd’s intermediaries. The Lloyd’s Swiss intermediaries are subject to the supervision of the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority FINMA.
Lloyd’s is currently not licensed to underwrite the following classes of business in Switzerland: Life, Sickness and Legal Expenses.
Lloyd’s Underwriters are represented under Swiss law, for their entire Swiss business, by an appointed General Representative for Switzerland and are under the supervision of the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority FINMA. In addition the provisions concerning the supervision of private insurance companies are applied accordingly.
The Swiss office manages regulatory or supervisory issues, acts as legal representative before the Swiss courts and maintains relations to the supervisory authorities. Public tenders as well as the administrative and technical assistance for Lloyd’s intermediaries are also part of our service. We are here to attend to client and broker requirements, to support them in their search for general and special insurance coverage, and to explain the way the Lloyd’s market works and how it can be accessed.
We promote the expansion of the relationships between Swiss market participants and Lloyd’s partners. The promotion and strengthening of the Lloyd’s brand in Switzerland plays an important part of our day-to-day work.
