“Conventional and conservative are not words I would use to describe my art gallery” says Elsje’ Grobbelaar, owner and curator at Smudge Contemporary Art Gallery. I’ve always enjoyed looking at something unusual and modern and that’s what I look for in an artist too. Someone with tons of talent and energy, whether they’re an up-and-coming, emerging or an established artist. And that’s why I opened the first and only contemporary art galley in Clarens, with the hope of bringing these artist as well as patrons and investors of contemporary art under the same roof.
