Montagu is about 2 hours drive from Green Point Stadium Cape Town, where a number of important football games will be played during the 2010 Soccer world championship. It is the perfect stop for 2010 soccer tourists travelling between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. Port Elizabeth is about 6 hours drive to the east and hosts the Nelson Mandela Stadium for the 2010 championship. A unique rural atmosphere distinguishes Montagu as one of the best kept late Victorian agricultural villages in the Western Cape. The many attractions and the fact that Montagu is centrally situated makes it a sought after tourist town and perfect base from where the countryside can be explored. There are a number of hiking trails in the area as well as opportunities for rock climbers. The hot springs just outside of town are very popular. Horse riding, golf, tennis, bowls and other sports can also be exercised.
