A visit to Laborie Restaurant allows diners to reminisce about the Cape as it once was hundreds of years ago. The spacious, stylish restaurant and terrace, secluded by vineyards and shaded by ancient oak trees, offers a relaxed atmosphere and provides an informal and relaxed dining experience. The Laborie Wine Estate has a history dating back more than three centuries and is one of the Western Cape's oldest and most renowned wine producing farms, producing a variety of excellent wines. Laborie is named after the district of La Bri in France. The name was given by the first French Huguenot family, the prosperous Tailleferts, who settled on the farm in 1685. According to the famous French explorer, François Leguat who visited the Cape in 1698, Laborie's wine was "the best in the colony and similar to our small wines of Champagne". We are situated in the heart of Paarl and are within close proximity of splendid chapels where weddings can be conducted such as the historic 'Strooidak Kerk' and the petit 'Het Gesicht' wedding chapel. The Estate also offers various facilities such as the historical manor house, the tasting room and historic wine cellar which can be used to plan for the perfect wedding. The graceful gardens and huge lawn surrounded by beautiful oak trees offer endless photo opportunities for the bride, groom and guests. Wedding functions are regularly hosted in the garden in the true French 'Sur la Pelouse' style. Our restaurant can accommodate groups of up to 30 people in the private 'Salon' which boasts a beautiful fire place for chilly or windy days.
