KSD FET College is a public institution and is one of the fifty public FET colleges of South Africa and is also one of the eight colleges of the Eastern Cape. KSD FET College was founded by the Department of Education in line with the FET ACT No 98 of 1998 in April 2002. It was established as a merger of three former technical colleges namely:
Mthatha Technical College
Mapuzi Technical College
Engcobo Technical college
Three additional satellites campuses have also been identified and these are:
Ntabozuko (Elliotdale)
Libode
Mngazi (Port St Johns)
The name of the college is King Sabata Dalindyebo. Sabata Dalindyebo is a former king of the Thembus of the Transkei. He was deeply involved in the liberation struggle of South Africa. He died in exile and was refused burial in his home by the former homeland system of government. He was later reburied in his home during the era of democracy. King Sabata Dalindyebo is the pride of the Xhosa as well as the broader nation of South Africa and the international world.
