Running out of Hot Water
Most usual sign of a problem in a geyser is the inability to provide hot water. When large quantities of water are heated in 150L-200L water heaters, mineral deposits occur over time that can result in the deterioration of the heating element.
It results in leakage and heating element replacement.
Noisy Geyser
The second most common warning of a failing Geyser is popping or banging sounds. This is also caused by the same reason and that is mineral deposits. These deposits prevent the water from heating and thereby leading to the tank to overheat. Causing fatigue and possibly a leakage of the tank.
Cloudy or Warm water that smells

Rust is the outcome of the reaction that occurs between the steel material of the tank and water. An anode rod is present in the geyser to protect it from corrosion but because of wear and tear, it will corrode. And that's when corrosive forces will affect the connection and tank body.
Damaged Temperature and Pressure Relief Valve (TP Valve).
There are three valves inside the geyser - a temperature valve, a pressure valve, and a safety valve that releases the pressure. If the safety valve becomes damaged, your geyser can burst just like a small explosive does. Make sure you get any of these valves upgraded immediately whenever you find out a fault.
