Waterfall Mall was opened in September 1998, and the Value Mart opened in Dec 2006. They are both situated next to the R24 Johannesburg road on the far South Eastern side of the city with easy access from the N4 platinum highway which has an off-ramp at the eastern entrance of the Mall. The centre enjoys a foot count of between 650 000 and 700 000 visitors on average per month. It is very much a weekend destination of choice with an average foot count of between 42 000 and 45 000. Over 1million people visited the mall in December 2008 and this is expected to increase this year. The Mall is mainly frequented by families and marketed to the A , A and B income groups. The primary feeding area is Rustenburg within a 50km radius. The industry consists predominantly of platinum & ferrochrome mines, holiday resorts and the downstream industry. The centre is periodically frequented by local and international tourists from Sun City, Pilanesberg and the surrounding holiday resorts. As a regional shopping centre, the centre also enjoys patronage from the secondary catchment area including Brits, Thabazimbi, Mafikeng and Klerksdorp. The centre has 175 varied tenants anchored by Woolworth’s, Game, Edgar’s, Pick ‘n Pay, Dischem, Wetherlys and Ster Kinekor. Waterfall Mall and Value Mart have grown from strength to strength, and over the past years has seen a good growth in turnover and foot count.
