My name is Janet Murphy, and my new, up-and-coming kennel, Shahzadi Shepherds, LLC., is striving to help establish more genetic diversity within the breed of the German Shepherd. Without it, this breed may be more at risk to develop different kinds of issues, from severe hip dysplasia (subluxation/dislocation of hip joints) to bad cases of DM (degenerative myelopathy - a progressive disease of the spinal cord). With the help of selective breeding, diversity will help keep German Shepherds as healthy as humanly possible - without the unethical methods of things like inbreeding.
