Dr. Shanny Baughman is board-certified in dermatology and has more than 20 years of experience as a dermatologist. She attended college at Pacific Union College, in Angwin, California, completed medical school, and an Internal Medicine Residency at Loma Linda University, then moved to Detroit for a residency in Dermatology at Henry Ford Hospital.
While there, she was involved in clinical research involving cutaneous mycology- fungus, ringworm, and yeast infections, and treatment of precancerous actinic keratosis with tretinoin. She learned many surgical procedures, including basic skills in Mohs Surgery, a specialized skin cancer treatment with the highest cure rate.
She became Board Certified in Dermatology in 1989, returned to California, and joined a practice in Porterville, before moving to the East Bay in 2001. She achieved her lifetime career goal of opening her own practice in October 2008.
Dr. Baughman believes in life-long learning to provide outstanding care. She is a skilled Mohs Surgeon, who welcomes figuring out the cause of a puzzling rash and helping maintain healthy, beautiful skin through non-invasive procedures and treatments.
Dr. Baughman’s special interests include skin cancer and skin cancer treatment, as well as acne, warts, rashes, and other skin concerns. She recommends a full skin examination for all new patients, as most skin cancers are painless. She also enjoys the aesthetic portion of her practice, aiming for a natural, relaxed look by reducing sun spots, frowns, and wrinkles.
