After receiving her doctor of philosophy with a focus in clinical mental health from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, Dr. Burwell became a licensed professional counselor (LPC). She's also a certified provider credentialing specialist (CPCS) and a board-certified telemental health provider.
As a psychotherapist providing holistic mental health care, Dr. Burwell specializes in a range of therapeutic approaches. She's one of the few trained in energy-based psychology. She also specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy, rational emotive behavioral therapy, and trauma-informed therapy, to name a few.
Dr. Burwell believes in helping each person find their voice and move forward with purpose.
Conditions such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, and personality disorders present challenges and symptoms that quiet their authentic voice. Eating disorders take a toll on mental and physical health, making it easy for patients to believe their voice isn't important.
Whether patients receive individual, family, or group therapy, psychotherapy provides deep insight into their challenges and teaches new skills, coping mechanisms, and behaviors that dramatically improve their symptoms.
In the process, each person rediscovers their true purpose and learns to stand strong and speak their truth.
No matter what life challenge or mental health condition patients face, compassionate care is available. Call the office or book an in-person or telehealth appointment online today.
