Dr. Jawad Ilyas received a combined bachelor of medicine and surgery from Allama Iqbal Medical College and University of Health Sciences in Lahore, Pakistan. After coming to the United States, Dr. Ilyas completed his residency in internal medicine at Michigan State University where he received the Resident Investigator of the Year award. He then went on to complete his fellowship in transplant hepatology and second fellowship in gastroenterology from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Ilyas has been published in many peer-reviewed journals, including the American Journal of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Gastroenterology, Journal of Hepatology, Clinics in Liver Disease, and Gastroenterology Clinics of North America. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Association for Study of Liver Diseases, American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology, and Texas Society for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy. Dr. Ilyas has a special interest in both general and transplant hepatology as well as general gastroenterology. He has received specialized training in management of complex liver problems including viral hepatitis, metabolic, genetic and autoimmune liver diseases. He has expertise in management of pre- and post-liver transplant patients. Dr. Ilyas welcomes new patients and accepts most insurance plans.
