Dr. Hector R. Mena first earned his Medical Degree from the Universidad de Costa Rica in 1966. Dr. Mena worked as a research fellow with the Worcester Foundation for Biomedical Research through the University of Massachusetts for four years. In 1970, he completed his internship at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He performed his residency in Internal Medicine through the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, completing the program in 1971. He earned a fellowship in Rheumatology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas in 1973. Prior to joining The Baton Rouge Clinic in 1976, Dr. Mena was in charge of Rheumatology department at Michigan State University at Kalamazoo.
Dr. Mena is licensed to practice medicine in the state of Louisiana, and has dedicated his life to advancing the practice of medicine and helping to instruct many physicians through their student and residency years at both LSU and Tulane.
