This, along with our other outdoor dog training for hiking and all types of other outdoor adventures along with your canine companion.
Backcountry K9 is not a chain training company, we do not attempt to force any single one style of training on your dog or you, we believe that all dogs, like people, are individuals and should be treated as such. Our clients and their dogs are the most important thing for us. We want all our clients to feel as though they are not just getting a dog trainer but also a person who is able to provide them with additional resources and to become part of a close group. To create this atmosphere, we offer our Backcountry K-9 Training Outing Adventures where we invite clients to come with there dogs to use their learned training in real-world situations, all under Backcountry K-9 Training's supervision. Along with these outings comes the ability to meet and join other clients, their dogs, and share in questions and dogs training progress. This camaraderie is often incredibly motivating and vital to our clients, their goals and awareness that they can always be training their canines, pushing to that next level. At Backcountry K-9 Training we are unlike those trainers that say ” I train dogs because I hate people,” we believe that is not a good quality in a dog trainer, our philosophy is always to help people and their dogs. We want our clients to be entrusted with us, and we want to be invested in our clients' success. We believe a great dog trainer is someone who is very personable, outgoing and is easy to talk and connect with.
Our Dog/Canine Training Philosophy
At Backcountry K-9 Training we have the training view that all dogs are individuals and should be respected, and will be treated as such. We do not believe in any one specific method but incorporate all styles to give our clients the best, most effective and humane dog training in the Westchester County and Putnam County New York area. We believe that a good dog trainer possesses the skill and knowledge of all training methodologies and beliefs to adapt to your dog's needs. At Backcountry K-9 Training, it is all about the dog! We are here for your dog, we want your dog to have fun and succeed in training and obedience. All tools we use are used in a specific and humane manner, we do not believe in the dominance or alpha dog training, but that dogs thrive with clear rules and expectations that commands will be followed. We follow the basic principles of Operant conditioning to achieve the best results for your dog. We believe that training and obedience should be fun, energetic and engaging for your dog, we will not scare your dogs, nor treat them like robots. We believe in our own 95-5 model, which also uses your dog's personality to make them successful. We never correct a dog for something they do not fully know or understand, therefore avoiding any fear and confusion in your dog.
We fully describe and explain all our thinking and different dog training techniques to our clients. Overall our goal is to build the ultimate relationship with your dog and bring clear expectations that the dog needs to listen and good things happen when they do! Our whole method comes from our love of our own dogs and that we want them to be with us all the time, while at the same time being safe and knowing we can control them in any situation that may occur.
